Dr. Paul B. Schneck, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer

An internationally accomplished scientist, Dr. Schneck holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from New York University and is a recipient of The Foreign Intelligence Community’s Seal Medallion awarded for exceptional contribution. With more than 40 years of experience in applied and theoretical sciences, Dr. Schneck has conducted scientific research in fields as diverse as aerospace, supercomputing, paralleled processing, and digital IP anti-pirating technologies.

An inventor himself, with two issued patents, Dr. Schneck began his career in aerospace where he developed an optimizing and parallelizing compiler that enabled NASA to use ILLIAC IV, Cyber, and Cray computers without the need for extensive reprogramming.

After joining the Goddard Institute for Space Studies in 1970, Dr. Schneck held a succession of positions where he oversaw, conceived of, and developed a range of technologies and programs for the processing of space data.

While at NASA, Dr. Schneck was appointed project manager for implementation of the Massively Parallel Processor (MPP), which upon completion was the fastest computer in the world. Dr. Schneck delivered the project on time and in budget. Dr. Schneck’s career at Goddard Space Flight Center culminated with him serving as Assistant Director for Computer and Information Science until 1983.

From 1983 to 1985, Dr. Schneck headed the Information Science Division for the Office of Naval Research, where he directed a $10 million contract computer and research program for the U.S. Navy. In that role, he initiated a new research thrust in parallel processing that remains a legacy to his research vision.

Named Founding Director, Supercomputing Research Center at the Institute for Defense Analyses in 1985, Dr. Schneck managed the ground-up development of the Center, starting with a single employee and building it to a 130-person division. Dr. Schneck and his team were contracted to the National Security Agency to perform research in computer science and parallel processing, which led to breakthrough advances in hardware, software, and algorithmic research. SRC was awarded the Foreign Intelligence Community’s Seal Medallion by then Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, William B. Gates, for exceptional contribution.

In 1993, while serving as a Fellow for MITRE Corporation, Dr. Schneck invented the IP System that allows an owner of digital data to continue to control the use and dissemination of data as they are delivered to second parties. He was named Vice President, Technology and Systems Development of MRJ Technology Solutions in 1997, where he represented the corporation to the scientific community and developed new technology-based business opportunities.

Dr. Schneck also served from 1995 to 1998, as a consultant and then as a member of the National Science Advisory Board to the National Security Agency.

Most recently, Dr. Schneck worked as Vice Present and Chief Technology Officer for Veridian Corporation, where he was responsible for corporate technology strategy, IP value management, and strategic alliances.

Dr. Schneck is an Elected Fellow of ACM and of IEEE. He holds a Masters of Science in Engineering Mathematics, School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University, where he was the recipient of NASA Traineeship.

Dr. Schneck is the author of more than 50 published scientific articles and has spoken before countless audiences at scientific conferences and symposia across the U.S. He sits on numerous scientific committees and advisory boards, and has taught at The Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, and Columbia University.
